BreakingA two-year-old boy who was reported missing from South East Queensland overnight sparking an amber alert including a major Polair search has been found safe and well. Police had earlier issued the alert about 7.30am after the child was reported missing from Diamantina Circuit, Beaudesert. The child was considered to be of significant risk. A 44-year-old Beaudesert man is now assisting police with inquiries.

Hundreds of people forced to flee their homes as a bushfire burning in western Queensland closed in on a town are unable to return to their properties as weather deteriorates. The Queensland Fire Department at 2.24pm today advised that it was not safe to return to the small border town, located about an hour south of St George. “The fire near Dirranbandi Hebel Road is still burning. It is travelling towards Dirranbandi. If you left the area, it is not safe to return,” the warning read.

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at an industrial facility south of Brisbane overnight. A Queensland Police spokesman said an abandoned property on Mary Street in Kingston was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Thursday morning. He said police are now investigating the suspicious blaze. A QFD spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished about 2.30am. It came after crews contained a large fire in bushland at Jimboomba.
