SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Local veterans are gearing up for the next Midwest Honor Flight. On Monday, June 2, they all came together for a pre-flight dinner at the South Sioux City Marriott Riverfront. The veterans plan on leaving Sioux Gateway Airport on Tuesday, June 3, early in the morning and flying to Reagan National Airport to visit Arlington and Washington, D.C.On this mission, there are several stops, including a visit to Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

PENDER, Neb. (KTIV) - Pender Community Hospital has joined a collaboration with an Omaha-based ambulance service to help transfer patients and be more hands-on to help with the workload taken off the volunteer teams. This has resulted in some new wheels at the hospital in Pender, Nebraska, providing around-the-clock assistance with transferring patients.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) — Gordon Klatt and his wife, Martha, made the trip to Sioux City on Friday morning to present a quilt from Adel, Iowa, to their close friend Dennis Hageman. Gordon grew up in Sioux City and went to school with Dennis. In the 1960s, both men enlisted in the Navy. Dennis grew up eight blocks away from Gordon. They crossed paths during their time in school, but became friends through a local Sunday school class.

PIERSON, Iowa (KTIV) - Flags are going up in honor of the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend to honor the sacrifice of men and women who gave their lives serving our country, and one small town collaboration has a between an American Legion post and local students to remember the fallen. Eighty-two new nylon flags are flying in Pierson, Iowa, ahead of Memorial Day Weekend. The Pierson American Legion Post 291 has taken care of the flags in Pierson for many years.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Marina is finally opening after a year-long closure. Days away from welcoming back boaters, General Manager Jason Addington has taken hold of the reins and is getting the marina back up to speed after this space went vacant last year. The day the contract went into effect, now owned by the City of Sioux City, Addington was making his way to town to start preparing for the season. “This is a beautiful Marina, by the way.
