    ASHEVILLE, NC. (WLOS) — This past weekend marked three years since the shooting death of 27-year-old LaMichael Carter. While three years have gone by, answers have remained slim. Detective Sgt. Charles Wells with the Asheville Police Department (APD) said on April 12, 2022, they received a call about a person down on Fairfax Avenue in West Asheville around 11:30 p.m. Wells said Carter was going to visit his mother at her house. “He never arrived," Wells said.

    ASHEVILLE, NC. (WLOS) — One person has been shot following a possible road rage incident in Asheville early Sunday morning. The Asheville Police Department said that around 1am on Sunday morning an argument broke out between two drivers on Fairview Road. APD described it as a possible road rage incident that ended in one of the drivers being shot. The victim pulled into the shopping center at 800 Fairview Road. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

    BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Local nonprofit organization Beloved Asheville continues its work in helping Western North Carolina recover after Hurricane Helene. The group's latest project involves rebuilding homes in Swannanoa, one of the areas hit hardest by the storm. Co-director Amy Cantrell said they started the process by rebuilding a home destroyed in the Beacon Village. Cantrell said that it is a place where healing is necessary and the best way to do that is through rebuilding.
