CrossFit Games veteran Cole Sager won’t participate in the 2025 Games season. Sager, 34, announced the news in a video on his Instagram page, where he quickly pivoted to say, “This isn’t a retirement post.”It’s just a formal announcement that he won’t be participating in the CrossFit Games season, potentially leaving the door open for other competitions. “This is more like a ‘I’ll see you around’ post.’ I’m not done with athletics; I’m just done with the CrossFit Games,” Sager said in his post.

The 2025 CrossFit Games season is well underway, with the Individual In-Affiliate Semifinals for elite individuals beginning this week. Once the dust settles over the weekend and the leaderboard is finalized (by May 19), 11 more men and women will have tickets in hand for Albany, NY, later this summer. Remind me: In-Affiliate Semifinals is an online track for athletes around the globe who finished in the top one percent of the Open to compete for a spot at the Games.
