Without any continuity assumptions, a complete classification of contravariant, matrix-valued valuations on convex polytopes is established. Furthermore, the constraint for matrix symmetry is removed. If , then such valuations are uniquely characterized by the generic Lutwak–Yang–Zhang matrix; in dimension three, a new function appears. The classification result in the 2-dimensional case is consistent with the established example of -equivariant matrix-valued valuation.

AbstractWe consider a nonlinear SPDE approximation of the Dean–Kawasaki equation for independent particles. Our approximation satisfies the physical constraints of the particle system, i.e. its solution is a probability measure for all times (preservation of positivity and mass conservation). Using a duality argument, we prove that the weak error between particle system and nonlinear SPDE is of the order \(N^{-1-1/(d/2+1)}\log N\).

Popular Summary Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables two remote parties to establish a shared secret key even in the presence of an eavesdropper that has access to a quantum computer. The obtained key then can be used to encrypt secret messages. Continuous-variable QKD (CV-QKD) protocols with discrete modulation (DM) are promising candidates for commercial implementations because the required components are already used in current telecommunications infrastructure.

ABSTRACT In this paper we recount the “Internet of Bananas” (IoB), a design-led exploration of citizen sensing as well as an exercise in “useful futility”. The project mixed critical design and satire to explore social justice attitudes towards data collection and electronic literacy.
