When the College of Southern Maryland golf team welcomed Anne Arundel and Hagerstown for a Maryland Juco Region XX tri-meet at Chesapeake Hills Golf Course in Lusby on Monday, the Hawks were looking to prep for the upcoming region tournament at Oakmont Golf Course in Carroll County. In the last regular season match prior to the Region XX championships, Anne Arundel Community College’s quartet ended up with the low round (+43), followed by Hagerstown CC (+57) and CSM (+63).

During an intense, three-game stretch last week, the Huntingtown High School softball team got tested for its resolve on a number of levels in contests against St. Mary's Ryken, Leonardtown and Northern where the Hurricanes displayed more than a hint of resiliency while winning two of those three games.

Ten years after he published his first book and seven after he completed his second, Calvert County resident Brian Boyle continues to compete in various ultra marathon events throughout the region and recently competed one around Calvert Cliffs. Boyle, a McDonough High School and St. Mary's College of Maryland graduate, recently competed in an ultra marathon event at Calvert Cliffs while his family was on hand to cheer him to the finish line.
