OSGOOD — Three months ago, Hauser broke a long sectional-title drought when it won its first boys basketball sectional since 2017. Monday night, the Jets baseball team broke nearly as long of a drought. They won their first baseball sectional since 2018 with a 9-1 win against Oldenburg Academy in the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional final. “It feels amazing,” Hauser pitcher Simeon Wasil said. “I feel like we really deserved it. The Olympians settled down and outscored Franklin over the final six innings, but a seven-run first for the Grizzly Cubs was too much to overcome in an 8-2 loss in the semifinals of the East Sectional. The first six Franklin batters reached base against Olympian starter JD Rotert and came around to score in the bottom of the first.

Columbus North’s Russell, White and Works will be joined at the June 6 Boys Track and Field State Finals by Graham Pumphrey and Logan Vanzant, and Young will represent Jennings County after running to victory in the 1,600 meters at the Bloomington North Regional.
