Sixteen Columbus North seniors who have announced their commitment to compete in college athletics participated in a signing ceremony Wednesday. Four of the athletes are headed to Division I schools. Garrett Long will play football at Kent State, Neal White will run cross-country and track and Purdue and Cami Kleffman and Lindsey Thompson will cheer at Southern Indiana. Long is one of four Bull Dog seniors who plan to play football in college.

One bad inning cost the Columbus North baseball team Monday night. Class A No. 1 Center Grove scored 11 times in the top of the third, and that was the difference in the Trojan’s 14-3, five-inning victory. “We had a whole lot of positives when you sit back and think about it,” North coach Mike Bodart said. “It’s easy to look at the scoreboard and just to assume that you played terrible. The rest of the coaching staff, we all agreed that we didn’t play terrible. We had four hits to their six.

With two of their regular doubles players at a conference and another having to be pulled after warmups Monday, Columbus North had three first-time varsity players in the lineup when it hosted Columbus East. The replacements didn’t miss a beat.
