    CARMEL — For the first half of Wednesday’s round, Austin Perry was playing about as well as he could have possibly hoped. Starting his day on the 10th hole, the Columbus North sophomore played his first nine at even par, climbing his way up the leaderboard on the second and final day of the Boys Golf State Finals. Alas, Prairie View tends to put up a fight against even the most seasoned players, and it did so during Perry’s second nine.

    CARMEL — The annual Boys Golf State Finals might be the ultimate stage, but from the course to the crowds, everything was to Austin Perry’s liking. Tuesday, the Columbus North sophomore made his way around Prairie View Golf Club, his finals debut concluding with a first-round score of 79. This places Perry in a six-way tie for 51st-place among the 108 players competing. Qualified as an individual, Perry attempts to fare even better in Wednesday’s final round.

    Parker Elmore has yet to play in a game at Columbus North, but the two-sport standout already has found a college home. The senior-to-be announced his commitment Sunday to play football at Indiana University. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete also had scholarship offers from Kent State and Illinois State and had drawn interest from Michigan State, Wisconsin, Central Michigan, Indiana State, Miami (Ohio), Northern Illinois and Western Michigan.
