    The Washington Capitals defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-1, at Capital One Arena on Thursday. The series is now tied at one win apiece. While the Caps never trailed in regulation in Tuesday’s series opener, the Canes dominated much of the match. By contrast, Spencer Carbery’s team made several much-needed adjustments and skated off with the victory in Game Two. Game One was a textbook example of how not to beat Carolina. Nonetheless, Spencer Carbery’s team looked unprepared in Game One of the Eastern Conference Semifinals series. Rod Brind’Amour’s club prevailed in overtime, 2-1. However, the score was deceptive. By the eye test, the Capitals generated hardly any offensive pressure during the final 40 minutes of play. Unfortunately, the metrics matched the eye test.

Going to be interesting to see the mix of fans, particularly tomorrow. Raleigh is the first road arena that Caps fans really flocked to, with the proximity and transplants in the Triangle. Montreal didn’t have a whole lot, particularly compared to other venues in recent years.

This is also the first time that Hershey has faced an elimination game without being able to advance/win themselves since May 8, 2022 against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Hershey won that Game 2 of the best-of-3 but lost the series the next night against the Penguins.
