    DES MOINES, Iowa — The City of Des Moines now holds a new Guinness World Record after community members participated in the longest temporary mini golf hole. The event was organized by UScellular. They built a 507-foot mini golf hole in Cowles Commons in downtown Des Moines. An adjudicator from the Guinness World Record Records, Michael Empric, was on sight to verify the record and present a certificate to UScellular.

    WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Former NICU babies were reunited with their caregivers on Saturday. For over 25 years, the MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has organized an event like this. “It’s exciting. We spend so much time with these patients. They’re with us for several months at a time. We get really attached to some of these families, and it’s really rewarding as nurses to get to see how they’ve progressed,” said Shawna McDonald, the NICU Manager at MercyOne.

    JOHNSTON, Iowa — The Indo-American Association of Iowa celebrated International Yoga Day at Johnston Green Days by hosting a yoga event on Saturday morning. Yoga started at 8 a.m. at the Terra Park in Johnston and was led by Sanjay Srivastava. Around 30 people participated. The event officially kicked off the final day of Johnston Green Days. The president of the organization, Prakash Kopparapu, said yoga is a traditional Indian activity focused on bettering one’s health and fitness.

Located in the center of Dallas County, roughly 40 minutes northwest of Des Moines, Minburn has a population of just over 300 people, and its catchphrase is “small town with a big heart.”Despite the small population, new artwork will now be displayed at the center of town that was created by 2,500 people worldwide.
