Des Moines launched this initiative a few weeks ago and so far, it has been well-received by the community. The Parks and Recreation team brings the Park-N-Play vehicle to different locations across the city.

DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — An incident involving law enforcement caused the closure of I-80 in both directions of travel in Dallas County Tuesday morning. The first call went out on law enforcement dispatch radios around 1:30 Tuesday morning. On the law enforcement radio traffic, a dispatcher said, “Deputy says male is actively shooting at her.” Officers closed I-80 west of De Soto as the investigation unfolded.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order a month ago, dismantling seven independent government agencies. The order states the goal is to reduce the parts of the federal bureaucracy that Mr. Trump determined to be “unnecessary.”The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is one of the agencies named in the order.

AMES, Iowa — Two Iowa State University students came up with the idea of a local Renaissance faire last year, and its growth is beyond what they could’ve imagined. Kaley McCombs, an organizer, was just a freshman when they hosted the first Ames Renaissance Faire last spring. Last year, they sold around 700 tickets just before the opening day. Now, the event is bigger and better with over 40 vendors and four performance areas.
