    August 14, 2024 – The California Public Utilities Commission issued $91 million in the fifth round of recommended last mile broadband project awards for public comment on Thursday. The money comes from the $2 billion last mile Federal Funding Account Grant Program which seeks to expand internet access for underserved and unserved communities in California through a $6 billion state appropriation to broadband infrastructure.

    August 13, 2024 – Fiber provider FiberLight announced that it will provide 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) fiber optic speeds for 59 school districts in the Texas Panhandle on Tuesday. The region comprises 60 individual school districts and three charter schools with 226 campuses. It benefits from the Federal Communications Commission’s E-Rate program, which provides discounts to assist eligible schools and libraries in obtaining affordable internet access.
