An Oklahoma House Committee approved a bill Tuesday that will cap storage fees and restrict administrative charges for total loss vehicles. The bill, SB641, passed the Senate last month with a 32-8 vote after the original bill was gutted and amended on the House floor to include the storage language. Oklahoma Sen. Lonnie Paxton (R-23), an Oklahoma Farm Bureau insurance agent, introduced the bill Feb. 3.

Many consumers don’t have confidence in their understanding of their current auto insurance coverage, according to a new report from Finance Buzz. Overall 39% of consumers said they are somewhat confident (37%) or are a little confident (12%) in their understanding of their coverage, the 2025 Auto Insurance Statistics and Consumer Report says. Yet, more than half of 1,000 adults surveyed said they are mostly (37%) or completely (23%) confident in their understanding, the report says.

State Farm announced a national rollout of ADAS MAP requirement for Select Service repair facilities Tuesday, having successfully completed their regional pilot program, according to an email it sent the facilities. It announced the program, based on an agreement with OPUS IVS, in October for Colorado and Michigan. An email sent to Select Service repair facilities in February expanded the program to Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

The Washington House passed a right-to-appraisal bill with nearly full support Monday night. SB5721 gives policyholders the right to an appraisal to resolve disputes about the actual cash value and amount of loss on a damaged vehicle. It passed 96-1. Washington Senate passed a version of the bill in March, but it was amended earlier this month in the House Consumer Protection and Business Committee.
