MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The Mariucci Family Beacon House fundraised in a big way Thursday. Thursday evening was the fourth annual Grill & Chill Fundraiser. Tickets were sold out for a “Night in Nashville.”The crowd enjoyed a grill master competition, a bourbon tasting and could spend some time with Steve Mariucci. Music was provided by songwriter Tim Nichols and artists Deric Ruttan and Patrick Murphy. Money raised goes to support cancer and NICU patients and their families.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The future of the Meals on Wheels program in Marquette and Alger Counties is still unclear. The Community Action Alger Marquette will continue discussing it at the next board meeting. The CAAM Board met for its annual meeting on Thursday afternoon. Among the discussion was the future of the Meals on Wheels program.

UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WLUC) - Some big changes are in the works for the CopperDog 150. The least of these changes is a rebrand. From now on, it will be known only as the CopperDog. On top of that, two races will be combined. The CD150 and the CD80 will merge into one race, the CD120. As of now, it will be 121 miles long and last three days. This will create a much bigger field and a much bigger purse for participants.

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - A self-guided historical tour of Ishpeming is taking place on Sunday. The 2025 Ishpeming Historic Places Tour fundraises for the Ishpeming Area Historical Society. For nearly 20 years, these tours have told the histories of homes in Ishpeming. There are three stops this year. All the homes are part of the Strawberry Hills neighborhood of Ishpeming.

ISHPEMING, Mich. (WLUC) - A time-honored Ishpeming event is set for July third. The Festival of Treasures street fair has something for everyone. Old and new Ishpeming residents come together for live music, vendors, sidewalk sales and kids’ activities. David Aeh, the Ishpeming Area Historical Society president, says the event is fun, but it’s more about bringing the community together.
