A new floating sauna is launching this fall on Saratoga Lake. Kos Sauna, founded by Kate Butchart, offers a Nordic-style wellness experience inspired by her years living in Norway. Broadway Joe’s Pizza & Subs in Schenectady is temporarily closed after a car crashed into the front of the shop early Tuesday morning. Police say the driver, 23-year-old Marco Duran of Rotterdam, was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Broadway. Security camera video shows the car moving quickly, then spinning out of control before smashing into the front of the restaurant. Duran is seen getting out of the vehicle moments later.

Rite Aid is closing all 178 of its New York stores—including 11 locations in the Capital Region—as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan. The drugstore chain, once a major pharmacy retailer, is selling off all assets following years of financial losses and growing competition. Affected stores include locations in Albany, Colonie, Troy, Halfmoon, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls, Amsterdam and Gloversville. When I typed in 'Albany in the 1990s' I got this clearly ripped from VHS clip of a NewsCenter 6 broadcast from 1990. The big news at the time was the grand opening of the Knickerbocker Arena (today the MVP Arena) and how it had a major impact driving business to Downtown Albany. Over in Troy, there was growing concern about violence against students on the Russel Sage campus.

The historic Hudson-Athens Lighthouse was damaged after an unknown vessel struck it sometime between Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday morning. According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the incident caused significant damage to the dock and stairs and is being treated as a hit-and-run. Built in 1874, the lighthouse once guided ships along a dangerous stretch of the Hudson River.
