A hiker who reached the summit of Mount Katahdin on Monday is describing the conditions near the mountain’s peak as some of the worst he’s ever seen. Kevin Guether of Holmdel, New Jersey, shared his story with Maine's Total Coverage as the search continues for Esther Keiderling, 28, of Ulster Park, New York. An estimated $1 million in federal funding for services, including community paramedicine programs, has been restored. According to Wil O’Neal, director of Maine EMS, the office received an update from the Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention to begin administering grants that were originally approved earlier this year.
