The Agnes Gray Elementary School will now close for good after a referendum in West Paris resulted in most voters saying they didn't want to keep the building open.Most voted to allow the MSAD 17 school board to shut down the school. 279 people voted in favor of the school closing, and 27 voted to keep it open. The elementary school has been empty since early 2024, when the district decided it was unsafe for students and staff.

A new humanitarian organization that has U.S. backing to take over aid delivery to starving civilians in Gaza said Wednesday that it expects to begin operations before the end of the month — after what it describes as key agreements from Israeli officials. A new study found that two out of five families in Maine are struggling to pay their bills. The United Ways of Maine has released its annual ALICE financial hardship report. ALICE is an acronym that stands for asset limited, income constrained, employed. Since 2010, the United Ways of Maine has been keeping track of households that face financial struggles. The latest ALICE report, which looks at data from 2023, found that 11% of Maine households fall below the federal poverty level.
