E-scooter shares began rolling out in cities from Santa Monica to Paris to Mexico City nearly ten years ago. Scooters, rentable through an iPhone app, were part of a broader embrace of micromobility, using small vehicles to solve the “first-mile/last-mile problem.” E-scooter shares, along with bike- and e-bike-shares, can help bridge the distance between home or work and the subway or bus, and in the process, help reduce carbon emissions.
