More than 11,000 votes over four weeks led up to this moment − thousands of locals showing up for their cheesy favorites to voice their opinions on which is the best. The Beacon Journal's March Madness-style bracket competition to find the best pizza restaurant in Akron came down to two beloved institutions: Luigi's, an old-school favorite with a fiercely loyal following, versus DeCheco's Pizzeria, a growing business with out-of-the-box offerings. But in the end, there could only be one.

And then there were two. With almost 2,400 votes cast for our Fab Four of pizza, voters have narrowed the 16 shops that we started with in our March Madness-style competition down to just two. Now, we want to know: Who has the best pizza in Akron? Is it Luigi's, the Akron staple that has been around since 1949 and is known for its epic cheese proportions?
