    Early Friday morning's lunar eclipse was the first in almost three years, and the next won't be for another year. The eclipse lasted from about 1 a.m. until just after 5 a.m. Totality was at 2:26 a.m., when the reddish hue of the "blood moon" was visible. "During a lunar eclipse, the moon appears red or orange because any sunlight that's not blocked by our planet is filtered through a thick slice of Earth’s atmosphere on its way to the lunar surface," NASA said.
