Longview High School hosted a strong spring signing day ceremony at its campus turf room on Wednesday, with a dozen athletes from six different sports committing to colleges for the upcoming years. The school has now grown its Class of 2025 college signing group to 21 athletes during the current 2024-2025 school year. “It was neat,” Longview athletic director and head football coach John King said of all the sports represented during Wednesday’s event. “We had six [sports].

Longview built up a two-run lead by the bottom of the sixth inning of Tuesday night’s 10-6A home baseball district game, but its effort wasn’t enough as North Forney stormed back with three runs in the top of the seventh to grab its own come-from-behind 5-4 victory. The Lobos dropped their year record to 7-16 and district record to 2-5 before they travel to North Forney's ballpark for Thursday’s 7 p.m. rematch. The Falcons, meanwhile, improved their year mark to 6-14-1 and league mark to 3-6.

LeTourneau University’s baseball program bounced back from a slow start to the 2025 season, and has found an important groove as it competes for the American Southwest Conference championship this week. The YellowJackets owned a 6-11 record by March 20 before they charged back with a 12-2 stretch between March 21 and April 12 to reach their current 18-13 season mark.

Longview High School competed at the 9-6A and 10-6A track and field area championship meet at Wylie ISD Stadium on Thursday, and qualified three individuals and three relay teams for six different events at the upcoming UIL 6A Region II meet at Waco Midway’s Panther Stadium between April 18 and 19. “It was good,” Longview head track coach Josh Rankin said of his program’s overall performance at Thursday’s area meet. “We competed well.

LeTourneau University’s softball program has heated up for a crunch time stretch of American Southwest Conference play, and will look to continue its 2025 season success during an important week ahead. The Yellowjackets lost an early conference doubleheader at Mary Hardin-Baylor on March 29, but they returned to form with a dominant 62-6 scoring advantage over a four-game sweep at Howard Payne between April 4 and April 5.

Pine Tree needed to regroup in District 16-4A softball play after Monday’s 9-1 road defeat at Henderson, and leaned on a fast start on Tuesday to return to form during a five-inning 16-5 home win against Kilgore. The Lady Pirates earned a previous 15-1 win at Kilgore on March 14 and completed the season series sweep. They also improved their 2025 season record to 9-15-1 and district record to 5-5 before they travel to Carthage for Friday’s 6:30 p.m. road game.
