Hit Frank's music! That's a New York Yankees win on Opening Day; their fourth straight, if you can believe it. They defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in the Bronx by a score of 4-2 on Thursday before the action picks back up again on Saturday. New York led wire to wire in this one, with Austin Wells belting a leadoff homer after Carlos Rodón's impressive 1-2-3 inning in the top of the first.

Why not at least try? ByThomas Carannante|6 minutes agoI've dimmed the lights. I've lit some candles. I've taken my deep breaths. Opening Day will begin in less than 24 hours and we are at the last possible moment before the worst kind of fandom officially has the chance to take over (or at least bleed into the daily discourse). I'm guilty of it. Many others are, too. And we will be again. That's just the nature of the game. And if you root for the New York Yankees, you know it to be in your DNA.

Some stuff is happening. The 2025 regular season begins Thursday, and the New York Yankees are ready to take on the Milwaukee Brewers. But they'll be in the Bronx without plenty of names due to spring injuries that altered the complexion of the roster. For starters, DJ LeMahieu has been out of action ever since suffering a calf injury in his second at-bat of spring training on March 1. He's on the mend, however, and could go on a rehab assignment in the not-too-distant future.

Brutal news for the former Yankees prospect. As of right now, the New York Yankees don't need another starting pitcher before Opening Day, but an additional certainly wouldn't hurt after all that's happened. It won't be easy to make up the ground lost by Gerrit Cole being out for the year and Luis Gil likely missing the entire first half. Clarke Schmidt also isn't healthy, which further clouds the picture.

The Boston Red Sox have a few more decisions to make this spring, but they've gotten closer to finalizing their Opening Day roster before traveling to Texas to face the Rangers on March 27. On Sunday, they announced two key decisions with the pitching staff. In the starting rotation, the Red Sox optioned top prospect Quinn Priester to Triple-A Worcester, which cleared the path for Sean Newcomb to earn the No. 5 spot to start the year.
