While generally committed to advancing the electric vehicle (EV) market, automakers have been neglecting a potentially very profitable EV style in Europe – subcompacts, also known as B-segments. Although B-segment vehicles have long been a staple of the European market, the number of larger model EVs is far outpacing B-segment options. Many consumers are put off by the high cost of EVs and are waiting for more affordable cars – a perfect niche for the B-segment – before making the transition.
