SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - The American Red Cross is helping two people displaced by a fire Saturday morning in the Summerville area. Fire crews responded at approximately 11:35 a.m. to a fire at a home on North Moretto Circle in the Wescott Plantation community, North Charleston Deputy Fire Chief Christan Rainey said. Investigators say the fire appeared to start in a camper trailer parked next to the home and caught the house on fire.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A creek that runs under I-26 may soon receive restoration work as a part of the City of Charleston’s Lowcountry Lowline plan. The Lowcountry Lowline project is a 2015 initiative aiming at bringing a multi-use pathway along the peninsula. The plan is to transform the abandoned railway line under I-26 into a connector between West Ashley, North Charleston, downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Thousands are expected to head to the 52nd annual Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival. Historic downtown Summerville will be filled with bustling crowds, vendors and local artisans for the three-day festival. The weekend-long event is the biggest fundraiser for the YMCA location. The funds go toward health and wellness programs and causes, including the community health program and allowing children to participate in recreational sports and family memberships.
