On election night, House DFL leadership was disappointed that their majority had turned into a 67-67 tie with Republicans. Seats the DFL were expected to lose were lost and a few they were expected to win were lost as well.

    Publisher’s PerspectiveBy Tim Douglas, PublisherTwo of my boys and one grandson joined 67,000 Vikings fans at U.S. Bank Stadium Sunday to watch the Vikings get a win over the Atlanta Falcons, led by former Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. The game was a tight one until the fourth quarter when the Vikings, on the arm of Sam Darnold, scored 21 unanswered points that led to the lopsided victory.

The only challenger is Wisconsin, which had not yet certified its election results as this was being penned. Minnesota’s State Canvassing Board — which is tasked with reviewing and approving the state’s election results — met last Thursday to certify the November election.

    Mr Smith’s appointment will be made imminently and he will take up the position from next year. The Australian understands an international candidate previously had been identified for the role but ultimately turned down the offer. Mr Smith, who has been chief executive and director of Geelong Gallery since April 2016, will succeed Rhana Devenport, who departed AGSA in July after six years at the helm of the North Terrace gallery.

The Kickoff featured music, local celebrity bell ringers, hot chocolate and cookies and special musical performances.Those who missed the Kickoff, which signals the beginning of the Bell Ringing season for donations, will have numerous opportunities to donate to the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
