Program history will be made for the Kansas State women's golf team on Friday when it begins play in the team's first NCAA Championship meet ever. After taking second in the Lexington Regional a week and a half ago, the Wildcats head to Carlsbad, California and Omni La Costa Resort & Spa to compete in the first of three stroke-play rounds. The Wildcats are one of 30 teams competing for an NCAA title.

Tim [email protected] practice wrapped up earlier this month for Kansas State football, and things seem pretty bright for a team that returns a ton following a nine-win season last year and a bowl victory. The Wildcats open next season in Dublin, Ireland, facing Iowa State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, just the second time that K-State will have played a game on foreign soil. From there, the second year of the daunting 16-team Big 12 Conference awaits.

Tim [email protected] the first time ever, the Woodhalls got to compete on the same stage. Kansas State assistant track and field coach and Olympic gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, gold-medal winning Paralympian Hunter Woodhall, both got a chance to show open the season at the same meet last weekend when the Wildcats traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, to compete in the Drake Relays.

With one day before transfer portal officially closes to incoming players on Tuesday, the Kansas State men had another roster departure in junior guard CJ Jones. Jones played in all 33 games for K-State last season, with nine starts. He averaged 5.7 points on 40.7% shooting, including a 30.9% clip from 3-point range. He also averaged 1.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and .5 steals in 18.9 minutes per game. The East St. Louis native scored a season-high 12 points at UCF on Feb. 26.

The Kansas State women lost a couple more players to the transfer portal on Tuesday after four entered the portal last week. Sophomore forward Imani Lester and junior Gisela Sanchez are the two latest portal entrants for the Wildcats, according to reports.
