CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — Cheshire is temporarily removing its school resource officers (SRO) from a full-time schedule because the town’s police department is facing a staffing shortage. “We’ve had a number of resignations and retirements in the last five months, to the point where our patrol staffing was reaching a critical level,” Cheshire Police Chief Neil Dryfe said. He said the department is helping to fill the void by putting the two SROs back on patrol.
