PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - Pope Francis, history's first Latin American pontiff who charmed the world with his humble style and concern for the poor but alienated conservatives with critiques of capitalism and climate change, died Monday. He was 88. Francis, who suffered from chronic lung disease and had part of one lung removed as a young man, was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 14 for a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - A woman who was crossing the street was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday night. Police are searching for the driver who got away. Police received 911 calls and rushed over to the intersection of Cottman and Brous avenues around 11:30 p.m. There are homes and businesses surrounding the busy area, which is blocks away from Roosevelt Boulevard and the Roosevelt Mall. A woman was down in the middle of the intersection, police said.

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) - A 77-year-old man was killed and another man was critically injured in a shooting outside a Center City hookah lounge early Wednesday morning. Shortly after 2 a.m., police said a 22-year-old man exited the lounge, called Byblos, on 18th Street, near Chestnut Street. He was in the process of getting into a Chevy Suburban that pulled up when another car, believed to be a Jeep Grand Cherokee, also drove up.

MILLVILLE, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) - A fire spread across six homes in Millville, Cumberland County, Wednesday night. One child is confirmed dead and another is still unaccounted for. Around 11 p.m., the fire quickly spread from one duplex to another on Fourth Street near Railroad Avenue, then to two neighboring single-family homes. In all, 21 people were displaced and one man was hospitalized. He has non-life-threatening injuries. Family members say two sisters, ages 9 and 13, never made it out.

BRISTOL, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) - Bucks County authorities say a 24-year-old man died by suicide and his brother and father were killed when all three were hit by an Amtrak Acela train Thursday night in Bristol. Officials said the brother and father were trying to rescue him from the tracks. The crash happened around 6 p.m. near Bristol Station. Bristol Borough police said they received a call about three people on the tracks in the area of Prospect and Beaver streets.
