NEWARK – Cape Henlopen was nudged off of its field hockey pedestal one year ago. The Vikings are now back on top. Grace Wiggins’ first-quarter goal held up thanks to some clutch defensive plays as the second-seeded Vikings defeated Smyrna 1-0 in the DIAA Division I title game Saturday at the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium. It was the third tournament in a row the two teams met for the title.

NEWARK – Jordyn Hollamon made it clear within the first three minutes. This year’s DIAA Division II field hockey state championship game was going to be just like all the others before it. Hollamon netted the first four goals as Delmar defeated Newark Charter 6-0 on Saturday at the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium to win its eighth consecutive title. The Wildcats (17-2) are the only school to ever win the Division II title since field hockey split into two divisions for the 2017 season.
