Reef Relief will be holding a storm drain stenciling event from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and is looking for volunteers. This event serves to inform the public that storm drains lead directly to the ocean, and to encourage the responsible disposal of waste products. This is accomplished by stenciling “No Dumping, Drains to Ocean” on the storm drains throughout the city.

Authorities have arrested a 29-year-old Key West woman on various felony drug sale charges after reportedly selling fentanyl to undercover operatives on multiple occasions. Authorities arrested Jessica Wonderful Leatherwood, 29, this month following a search of her residence several months ago uncovered 4.1 grams of fentanyl, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

The FBI had agents operating on Cudjoe Key on Thursday, Sept. 5, but the federal law enforcement agency did not disclose the nature of the activity. “I can confirm that the FBI, in collaboration with our partners, is conducting court authorized activity at multiple locations in Miami Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties,” FBI Special Agent Willie Creech said in an email to The Keys Citizen.

By Tim O'Hara A man was injured and flown by air ambulance to a Miami hospital on Monday, July 22, after two personal watercraft collided off of Key West. The collision occurred at about 12:30 p.m. north of Wisteria Island, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Capt. Dave Dipre.

MONROE COUNTY - The College of the Florida Keys will hold "Fast Track to Fall" events from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at the Upper Keys Center in Key Largo and the Key West campus on Stock Island to help prospective students get on a path toward their academic and career training goals for the fall semester. New student applications are due Aug. 1 and classes begin Aug. 19.
