It’s the Raptor T1+, a car purpose-built to enter the 2025 running of the world’s greatest off-road race: The Dakar Rally. We're now entering our second year of iX ownership, which means the beginning of our second winter with the car. Last year, we got through the winter without issue, but the car just never felt particularly comfortable in low-grip conditions. So, that's been high on my list of things to address before the snow starts flying this year. The iX has all-wheel drive standard thanks to its dual-motor configuration.

2024 marked the fifth running of the Velocity Invitational, a distinctly Californian celebration of exquisite speed. The collection of cars lined up under the Napa sunshine was stellar, as was the cadre of racers who queued up to get behind the wheel. Amongst the glamor and the chrome it was hard to choose favorites, but here are a few that stood out from the crowd.

The Velocity Invitational returned to Sonoma Raceway this past weekend, showing off a wild mix of machines ranging from stunning low-rider Impalas to fire-breathing Group B Rally machines. This year, a large portion of the open infield paddock—which attendees can wander through at will—was dedicated to some choice bits of high-horsepower Americana. The first, and perhaps loudest, was a group of NASCAR machines from 1981 to 2013.
