    An ominous bit of deja vu crept in as the last 2 minutes of the men’s NCAA basketball championship game began to wind down Monday night. It was particularly sensitive for those of us pulling for the University of Houston to at long last capture its first national title after threatening numerous times over the last 50-plus years. Beyond that, on a local level, a Cougars victory over Florida would have secured the first title for a male basketball player hailing from a Bell County school.

There is no signage to depict that the beloved Dairy Queen is no longer operating. The outdoor sign still has a long ago promotion for the "reaper taco." The outdoor menu still has items, though there is a note apologizing that, due to a failed delivery, some of the items would not be available.
