DP World has joined the pioneering Joint Operators Logistics Trial (JOLT), deploying two fully electric HGVs from its Swindon base. A private self-funded consortium, Project Jolt brings together 14 fleets, three major OEMs - Volvo, Scania, and DAF, two leading universities - the University of Cambridge (Engineering) and Heriot-Watt University (Logistics) - as well as other specialists including software manufacturers, network charging operators and electric fleet service providers.

Culina Group has made two key additions to its senior leadership team. Thierry Held has been appointed to the role of chief finance officer for the group. He brings a wealth of experience having held senior roles across the finance, mining and logistics sectors, most recently as CFO Europe for Kuehne and Nagel. Stephen Taylor has also joined the group as chief executive for the company’s Stobart division.

Indurent, a developer, owner and operator of industrial and logistics space, has submitted a planning application for the final phase of development at Indurent Park Longbridge West. The site is 12km south-west of Birmingham city centre and formed part of the MG Rover car manufacturing plant, known for producing iconic cars such as the Mini and Austin 7, which closed in 2005.

Inflation and rising costs are the biggest challenges for SMEs working in the transport and logistics sector, according to a major new survey. Market research firm Bionic asked 500 business owners to identify the most concerning issues they would face over the coming 12 months and found 81% put financial fears top of their list. Other major challenges included supply chain and logistical disruptions (58%) and problems with hiring and retaining talent.
