As NFL teams engage in spy games and subterfuge to throw opponents off their scent, this time in draft season represents the 100% guaranteed lock portion of the analysis and what passes for reportage in an information environment that's murky by design. When it comes to the Seattle Seahawks there is a clear consensus. All the analysts and reporters agree they are definitely using their first round pick on an offensive lineman.

The Seattle Seahawks are heading into the 2025 NFL draft with 10 picks, putting them on the upper end of the league as far as total draft capital goes. In the real world - as is the case with every mock draft - teams have to adjust their strategy as the board develops. You don't want to reach too much or allow special players to fall further than they should, which requires no small amount of improvisation.

Zabel (6-foot-6, 305 pounds) has experience playing all five positions, which should have an obvious appeal for the Seahawks given how shaky their situation is at four of them. Last year Zabel played 961 snaps at left tackle, earning an elite 90.4 overall grade from PFF, including a brilliant 93.1 mark in pass blocking.

At this late hour in the draft season, fans have to take every report with a grain of salt. That said, aside from a few exceptions for wide receivers, most of the signs for the Seattle Seahawks point to them picking an offensive lineman in the first round of next week's 2025 NFL draft. Specifically, Seattle is widely expected to be targeting North Dakota State left tackle Grey Zabel in the first round.

At the combine Stewart checked in at 6-foot-5, 267 pounds and wowed observers with his speed and explosiveness, posting a 4.59 forty, a 40" vertical and a 131" broad jump. Combined with a 91% percentile wingspan, some analysts were reminded of Panthers legend Julius Peppers, who went on to have a pretty decent career for himself and is now in the Hall of Fame. That's a lofty comparison though for somebody who hasn't played a single snap in the NFL.

No NFL team has undergone a more radical change to their offensive philosophy and personnel this offseason than the Seattle Seahawks. Since the end of last season they have turned over all of their most-important positions on this side of the ball, including a new offensive coordinator, a new starting quarterback and a largely remade wide receiver corps. The shift will include a major overhaul in how they approach the game.

The Carolina Panthers currently hold nine total selections in next week's NFL draft. How they use that draft capital will go a long way in determining how the next few seasons could play out for the core of starting quarterback Bryce Young, head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan. Heading in we know they need help at wide receiver, edge, tight end and safety. However, to some extent every NFL team has to follow the board and improvise as needed.

From where we're sitting the Seattle Seahawks are just three players away from becoming a serious playoff contender in the NFC. Specifically, they need new capable starters at left guard, center and right guard. However, not everyone agrees that Seattle's roster is that close to competing at a heavyweight level.

The Carolina Panthers did a lot of spending to improve their league-worst defense in free agency. While they look a lot better on paper now than they did six weeks ago, there's still a lot of work to be done for them to catch up with projected NFC playoff teams. A new ranking from The Athletic underscores the problem and what the Panthers need to do next. According to their roster rankings going into the 2025 NFL draft, Carolina has the 23rd best-roster i the league right now.
