SU has now lost its last three matchups against Cornell, earning just one victory across the last six meetings. After a slow start, the Orange tied the Big Red 2-2 midway through the first quarter and then the defense collapsed. Cornell went on a 6-0 run and took a 9-5 lead into halftime.

Syracuse women’s lacrosse fell 14-11 to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Saturday. It marked just SU's second loss to VT in series history, and the first since 2018. VT jumped out to a 4-1 first-quarter lead and SU tried to play catch-up for the remainder of the contest but came up short. The Orange came within one goal midway through the second quarter before the Hokies closed the frame on a run to take an 8-4 halftime lead.

The two highest-ranked men’s lacrosse teams in Central New York clash Saturday on Long Island. No. 1 Cornell (9-1) plays No. 4 Syracuse (9-2) with each team riding at least 5-game winning streaks. It will be the 108th all-time matchup between the storied programs. ‘It’s one of the best [rivalries] in college lacrosse,” Cornell head coach Connor Buczek said in a media opportunity.

Former Syracuse defensive end and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney is joining the Syracuse football coaching staff, the program announced in a press release. “The time is now,” Freeney said in the press release. “I think that Syracuse has a lot of good things going. A great foundation and I think they need a push to be able to maintain and exceed that – that is what I hope I’m able to do.”Freeney said that he wants to help the Orange in whatever way he can.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Oregon State transfer Nate Kingz announced his commitment to Syracuse basketball Wednesday, per his Instagram account. Kingz, who has one year of eligibility, entered the portal on March 25, and it didn’t take him long to choose SU. The redshirt junior guard joins the Orange after posting 11.8 points per game and shooting a team-best 44.6% from 3-point range. Kingz’s 58 triples led the Beavers, who ranked second in the West Coast Conference in team 3-point percentage.
