She’s heard that Thatcher’s father would have been at one point, as a visiting pastor based in the nearby East Midlands town of Grantham. Converted churches like those that Bernholz lives in – this one a small isolated brick building on a patch of village green – come with such ghosts, which is essentially what’s brought us here.
