A detective in the city police department’s special victims’ unit is raising eyebrows after appearing in a raunchy pole-dancing video that’s gone viral, The Post has learned. Melissa Mercado, a seven-year veteran of New York’s Finest, popped up on a music video published by World Hip Hop, which shows the curvy cop gyrating and shaking her body while wearing only a thong and a skimpy bra. “I have no words,” one disgusted detective said.

A desecrated American flag was left crumbled on the ground outside the NYPD Police Academy in Queens and the building was vandalized with red paint early Saturday morning, photos obtained by The Post show. The thugs splattered paint on the sidewalks, the walls of the $950 million training facility on College Point Boulevard, and the poles out front. A rope line was also left hanging from the front of the building — as if someone had rappelled down from above, the photos show.

The female police officer who was slugged in the face by a repeat offender in a wild, caught-on-camera attack has a “long road to recovery ahead,” police union officials said. “I spoke to the officer today,” Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry told the New York Post. “She is in pain but in good spirits,” the union head said.
