    A man is dead after a shooting in Venice Wednesday night and now police are looking for the alleged suspect. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Pacific Avenue near Westminster Dog Park around 10:19 p.m. Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found a man who had died from a gunshot wound. Based on evidence they found, they believe the suspect lives in the area.

    Customers in Los Angeles County could see their bills a bit higher starting Tuesday, as sales tax across the county will increase. On April 1, sales tax in LA County will go up from 9.5% to 9.75%. Voters approved the increase back in November 2024. Measure A calls for the sales tax on items like clothing, toys and furniture to go up by half a cent, but since it replaces the temporary quarter cent tax that had in place under Measure H, there will only be a quarter cent raise starting Tuesday.

    Police are investigating an early Monday morning burglary in Bel Air, as purses and piles of $100 bills were scattered on the street outside the targeted home. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded around 1:05 a.m. to a burglary call in the 15000 block of Milldale Drive. It is not clear if there was anyone inside the home.

    Pope Francis was on the minds of everyone who came to mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood Sunday morning, including Cardinal Roger Mahony. Mahony was part of the conclave that elected Pope Francis back in 2013. He described Pope Francis as someone who has great compassion and mercy towards others. "Today our prayers and thoughts surround him," Mahony said.

    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has deferred about 3,400 properties in Los Angeles burn scars to the Army Corps of Engineers, claiming they are too dangerous for their teams to clear. At a news conference Wednesday morning, Bill Dunbar, with the U.S. EPA explained that some properties are unsafe due to structural integrity, damaged walls, or collapsed ceilings. Dunbar said the Army Corps is better equipped with heavy machinery that can handle that kind of work.
