    CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) -The Cape Catfish won their Prospect League home opener 12-2 over the Thrillbillies Thursday at Capaha Field. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, the Catfish got back-to-back homers from Wilser Then and Moises Rosario. Southeast Missouri State stand-out Caleb Champion also homered in the victory for Cape Girardeau. With the win, the Catfish improved to 2-1 under first-year head coach Gary McClure.     MARION, Ill. (KFVS) -The Cape Catfish defeated the Thrillville Thrillbillies 8-5 Wednesday on the road for their first win of the 2025 Prospect League season. The Catfish broke a 5-5 tie with three runs in the 8th inning to go ahead for good in the rivalry game.     CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) -The Chaffee and Oran Baseball teams won State Quarterfinal games Wednesday to advance to the Final 4. Oran shut out South Iron 3-0 in the Class 1 State Quarterfinal at Cape Central High School. The Eagles will now play St. Elizabeth Monday June 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in the semifinals in Ozark. Chaffee dominated Bernie 13-0 on the road in the Class 2 State Quarterfinal. Next up, the Red Devils will play Miller Monday June 2nd at 4:00 p.m. in the semifinals in Ozark.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KFVS) - The Oak Ridge Lady Blue Jays and Kennett Lady Indians both placed third in their respective classes Wednesday at the State Softball Tournament in Springfield. Oak Ridge defeated Bernie 3-2 in eight innings in the Class 1 3rd place game. This marked the Lady Blue Jays’ first trip to the Final Four, they finished the year 25-3. Kennett rebounded from a very tough one-run loss to Diamond to win the Class 2 3rd place game 15-8 over Ava.
