KFVS-TV (Cape Girardeau, MO)
KFVS-TV is a CBS-affiliated television station serving Southeastern Missouri, the Purchase region of Western Kentucky, and Southern Illinois. Located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, it transmits a high-definition digital signal on VHF channel 12 from its transmitter situated northwest of Egypt Mills in unincorporated Cape Girardeau County. The station is owned by Raycom Media and shares ownership with the low-powered CW/MeTV affiliates WQWQ-LP and WQTV-LP. Both stations operate out of the Hirsch Tower, located on Broadway Avenue in Downtown Cape Girardeau. KFVS features a variety of syndicated shows, including The Middle, The Dr. Oz Show, and Live! with Kelly & Michael, among others. Previously, KFVS acted as the main CBS station for the Jonesboro media market on satellite services, but this status may change following the launch of the area's first local CBS affiliate on August 1, 2015, which broadcasts on a second digital subchannel of Fox affiliate KJNB-LD.

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KFVS) - A Mount Vernon man was found guilty of first-degree murder in a jury trial in Jefferson County, Illinois. According to Mount Vernon Police, 68-year-old Eddie Bennett was found guilty on Wednesday, June 25 of first-degree murder and murder involving mob action in the death of Patrick Williamson. Bennett is one of three adults charged in connection with the death of Williamson on Monday, March 24 in Mount Vernon.

KENNETT, Mo. (KFVS) - A Kennett Police officer was fired after he was arrested on assault charges. According to Kennett Police Chief Kenny Wilson, officer James Fisher is charged with two counts of felony domestic assault and three counts of misdemeanor domestic assault. In a released statement, Chief Wilson said Fisher was no longer employed by the police department after he was arrested on Thursday morning, June 26.

Afternoon highs today will be in the mid-90s with the heat index approaching 105 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy. CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The riverboat docking season at Cape Girardeau continues with a third arrival on Wednesday, June 25. The Viking Mississippi docked along the riverfront just before 9 a.m.This is the riverboat’s first stop at Cape Girardeau for the 2025 season. According to Viking, this riverboat was built in 2022 with a Scandinavian design and can host 386 guests and 147 crewmembers.
