Pioneer UK, a network of churches, has publicly apologised to those impacted by damaging and harmful practices perpetuated throughout its ministry by its late founder Gerald Coates. The apology on Thursday came after the organisation’s trustees, Pioneer Trust (PT), officially accepted the findings of an independent safeguarding review into its past and present ministry practices. The review launched last year, when a complaint was made following Coates’ death in 2022.

What beautiful Thanksgiving service this afternoon for Peter. It’s become even more apparent how privileged I am to have known him, even if it was just for a few years. And again, I’m reminded how blessed I am to be part of his legacy at Premier. Rest in perfect peace, Peter ❤️ https://t.co/PX2PoDXTKE

Heartbroken by this news. But I smile remembering our chats at the newsdesk about family and raising young children. We were in different seasons of life but he so easily related to me. He will forever be missed but has left an amazing legacy I’m so proud to be part of ❤️🙏🏾
