SPICER — The scoreboard got a lot of work at the Green Lake Diamonds on Thursday. In the bottom of the third inning of a non-conference baseball matchup between New London-Spicer and Paynesville, the Wildcats sent three balls over the outfield fence for home runs. Two of those were back-to-back from Brayden Skindelien and Blake Schultz.

ST. CLOUD — The Willmar softball team got swept by the St. Cloud Crush on Thursday at St. Cloud Tech High School. St. Cloud beat the Cardinals 3-2 and 10-0 in the Central Lakes Conference doubleheader. In Game 1, St. Cloud’s Lola Jacobs out-dueled the Cardinals’ Grace Kalkbrenner. Jacobs struck out 10 with no walks, allowing six hits and two runs, one earned. Kalkbrenner struck out four, walked two and allowed four hits and three earned runs.

SAUK RAPIDS — Kennedy Mara had a memorable day at a Central Lakes Conference meet Tuesday at Wapicada Golf Club. The Willmar junior earned medalist honors with an even-par 72, helping Willmar to a third-place team finish at the meet hosted by the St. Cloud Crush. Willmar shot a 347 to finish behind first-place Detroit Lakes, which had a 316, and second-place Alexandria, which shot 337. “(It was a) great first conference meet,” Willmar head coach Bryan Mara said.

Apr. 14—LITCHFIELD — The Holy Family Catholic boys golf team won the Litchfield Invitational on Monday at Litchfield Golf Club. Holy Family shot a 309, 20 strokes better than second-place Delano. Litchfield was fifth at 342 and Benson took 11th in the 14-team tournament with a 370. AdvertisementMedalist honors went to Delano's Kellen Danielson, who carded a 73. Litchfield's Carstan Milender tied for fifth with a 79. Benson's top scorer was Connor Larson, who tied for 23rd with an 86.

DELANO â There were two first-place finishes for the New London-Spicer track and field teams on Monday at the Delano Invitational. Susannah Danielson and Elizabeth Kluver each secured wins, which came in the long jump and discus throw, respectively, for the Wildcats. Danielson won with a leap of 15 feet, 5 inches. Kluver was victorious with a throw of 83-10. Although the two Wildcat individuals found success, NLSâ girls finished in fifth with 30 points, as did its boys with 21 points.
