Albany — On Monday, the family of Ameek Nixson filed a lawsuit for "pre-action discovery and preservation", a move they say is one of their first steps in working to achieve justice in the death of Nixson. Nixson, a man from Albany, was killed inside Fishkill Correctional Facility in October, 2024. Since his death, the family says they've struggled to get answers, and clarity, in the circumstances surrounding his death.
