To the editor: I’m a born-and-raised Fairbanks resident (and, at one point, the editor who was on the receiving end of these letters) who recently returned here after six and a half years in Anchorage. As regular readers and letter authors may be aware, the ADN generally doesn’t print poems submitted as letters to the editor. But on one day each year, we make a one-day exception to our usual policy, in the name of good fun. In past years, ADN readers have stepped up to the challenge, flooding us with poems of surprising quality, humor and heart. Therefore, April 1 will once again be Poem Day in the ADN’s letters space.
