WASHINGTON — The “Gr8 Chase” is over, as Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is the new goal-scoring king of the NHL. Ovechkin scored his 895th goal Sunday against the Islanders, to pass Wayne Gretzky for the most goals scored by one player in NHL history. Gretzky, "The Great One," broke Gordie Howe's record of 801 in 1994 and later added another 93 goals before he retired in 1999.

ASHBURN, Va. — When the Commanders take the field against Seattle, it will mark quarterback Sam Howell’s 11th start under center for Washington. Myanna Kempton was just 5 months old, and 8 pounds, when she had to have open heart surgery. She was just 5 years old when she had spinal surgery. But instead of just thinking about herself at that young age, she told her mom, Sheri, that other kids should have toys and other things that made them feel less afraid while hospitalized.
