SILVER SPRING, Md. — An Olympic champion with DMV roots is helping us get uplifted! Dominique Dawes just made history again. Dawes is now the first gymnast to be inducted into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame. The Silver Spring native first made history by being the first African-American gymnast to qualify for and compete in the Olympic Games. She went on to win 15 U.S. championships and an individual medal in Olympic gymnastics.

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. — Baseball may be over for the season, but one hometown hero is still celebrating his World Series win with the Texas Rangers. He's bringing that positivity back home to Virginia. Anthony Wayne Beasley, aka Tony, is from Caroline County, Virginia. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles back in 1989 and even had a coaching stint with the Nats in 2006. Fast forward to this year, and Beasley helped the Rangers win the fall classic as a third base coach.
