We’re likely to learn soon whether President Trump will explicitly defy the Supreme Court, a move that would unleash the dogs and turn our democracy on its head. The case that could provoke that involves a Maryland man with no criminal record who was deported to a horrific prison in El Salvador based on what a Justice Department lawyer admitted was a mistake. I’ll get to that. But the case underscores a core feature of our politics today that no lawyer can fix.

The demonstrations across the country last Saturday did nothing to stay President Donald Trump’s hand. He was golfing at the time and ignored it altogether. But I hope Canadians were watching. And Greenlanders. And Mexicans. And all our old friends across the globe, who must be wondering just what the hell has happened to us. The demonstrations showed that many Americans are asking the same question. We don’t see them as parasites. We don’t want to hurt them. And we don’t want to break up.

President Donald Trump told NBC news last weekend that he’s dead serious about serving a third term as president, no matter what that dusty old Constitution says. He knows he can’t hope to pave the way by amending the Constitution, as one of his bootlickers in the House has proposed. That takes a vote by two-thirds of the Congress, and ratification by at least 38 states. Democrats who want to burn Sen. Chuck Schumer at the stake need to take a pill and look at the history of government shutdowns. It backfires every time. Americans blame the party that pulls the trigger. Yet the loudest Democrats, mostly college-educated progressives, are now pressing him to repeat the mistake made by militant Republicans three times — in 1995, 2013, and again in 2018, when they shut down the government.

Boom, Dec, you got it. If I hear one more conspiracy theory, I'm getting on my secret space ship and going home.

Sorry…this is too far. I can’t sit by anymore. The drone hysteria has crossed a line. Scaring people into believing that Chinese or Iranian forces are behind this (likely mass hysteria) phenomenon is irresponsible. A foreign nation taking such action would be an act of war. AN
