CVS Health steered through rising costs in its insurance division to handily beat profit expectations on Wall Street. The drugstore chain and pharmacy benefits manager earned $1.64 billion, or $1.30 per share for the period ended Dec. 31. A year earlier the company earned $2.05 billion, or $1.58 per share. Removing one time costs and benefits, earnings were $1.19 per share, easily topping the 89 cents per share that analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research predicted.
