The Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip expert was found not guilty of coercive control and assault allegations relating to his wife Rebecca Hanson. On Friday, a jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict on all counts following a trial at Derby Crown Court.

Ten Reform UK councillors in Derbyshire say they have resigned in protest over Nigel Farage's leadership. The group claimed an "increasingly autocratic manner" in which the party operates led to their decision, and said they feel the party "has lost its sense of direction" since Farage took over as leader. The Derbyshire group's leader, Alex Stevenson, was suspended as a member pending an internal investigation in December.

The families of the three people killed in the Nottingham attacks have welcomed a move to review homicide law and the sentencing framework for murder. Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, both 19, and Ian Coates, 65, were stabbed to death by Valdo Calocane in June 2023. Calocane, who had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was given a hospital order for manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility in January.

A nature reserve in Nottinghamshire will be closed to visitors for months for safety reasons, a council has said. The Hermitage Local Nature Reserve in Mansfield was shut suddenly on Wednesday following a recent inspection. Concerns have been raised about the safety of the footpaths by Mansfield District Council due to falling trees and exposed tree roots. The authority says the site will be closed until at least April next year and funding will need to be secured to pay for repair work.

A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after he was stabbed in the chest in Nottingham city centre. Emergency services were called to High Street shortly after 04:00 GMT following reports of the attack. Nottinghamshire Police said a cordon remained in place in the area while investigations take place. Trams have been unable to pass through the area and operator NET said there were no services running between Old Market Square and Clifton South/Toton Lane.

Pupils involved in an "upsetting" bus crash with a lorry in Leicestershire will be offered support when they return to classes, the school's trust has said. The bus was travelling from the St Paul’s Catholic School in Leicester on an educational trip when the crash happened on the A46, near Syston, on Thursday. Ten schoolchildren were taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering minor injuries in the collision, which happened at about 9:30 GMT.
