Following the Supreme Court’s ruling in April, universities and students’ unions across the UK have come under increasing pressure to reassess their transgender policies over concerns that existing legislation may be ‘unlawful’. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the definition of a ‘woman’, as defined by the Equality Act 2010, is based on an individual’s biological sex at birth, rather than their gender identity, regardless of whether they have a Gender Recognition Certificate or not.

In May 1985, a story titled ‘Bomb Scare’ appeared on the side of The Boar’s front page, after an incident the week before which saw Warwick Arts Centre evacuated due to a mysterious phone call.

Louis Gosling has been re-elected as the Students’ Union (SU) Vice President for Sports for a second time, bringing an end to one of the most unpredictable and unexpected Warwick SU election years. The result was announced on the SU’s Instagram page, after the polls – for what turned out to be a hotly-contested six-way election – closed at midday today (30 May). A breakdown of the voting figures for the election have not yet been shared by the SU.

Voting for the Students’ Union (SU) Summer Elections has now opened, with all eyes on the Vice President for Sports election, the second in two months after the position was RONed during the Spring Elections. While only one candidate stood for election to the position in March, six candidates have put themselves forward in this election cycle, including the incumbent position holder Louis Gosling.

A performance by Jimmy Carr at the Warwick Arts Centre was disrupted by members of Warwick Stands With Palestine (WSWP) on Friday 16 May, just days before the group stood down their week-long encampment. WSWP protestors made their way up to a position below the Butterworth Hall stage before Carr began a performance of his ‘Jimmy Carr: Laughs Funny’ tour.
