    HOLLY SPRINGS — Uwharrie Charter again claimed the NC High School Athletic Association 1A state championship – otherwise known as the Uwharrie-Perquimans State Series – for its third state crown in a row. Uwharrie beat Perquimans 6-0 in Game 3 on Saturday night in the best-of-three series played at Ting Park. The Eagles won Game 2 earlier in the day on the same field by a 6-4 score to force the third game after losing the opener on Friday night.

    HOLLY SPRINGS — The biggest RBI single of Beckett Rinkus’ career barely dribbled halfway down the third baseline, but it was enough for North Lincoln to defeat J.H. Rose 1-0 for the 3A NC High School Athletic Association state title. The Game 3 victory Saturday at Ting Park gave the Knights the best-of-three series. After a crushing 4-3 loss in the bottom of the seventh on Friday, North Lincoln rallied to win the 11 a.m. Saturday game 2-0 to set up Game 3.
